Triangle Car Care Was Chosen as a Top Ten Shop in the Country!
For any auto business owner, clocking in and out daily and amassing a 40-hour workweek is unheard of. The daily demands of customers, employees, and running a successful business are something the 45 years of experience have done well to prepare Bobby Dunn. Not only does he oversee repairs and staff at his shop Triangle Car Care, Bobby purposefully invests his time and talent and sets the example for other shop owners looking to become more involved.
Thanks to the help of management training programs and associates of the Independent Garage Owners of North Carolina (IGONC) Dunn was able to turn his idea of running a shop into a reality. With help from the IGONC Dunn was no longer left alone to figure out the details that come with opening and running any new shop. Employing and maintaining a highly qualified staff, marketing and advertising the new business and a fiscal budget were tasks other professionals helped Dunn complete and allow Triangle Car Care to open its doors.
The success of Triangle Car Care doesn’t end with its opening or continuous run since 1969. As a staple in the community, and known for its excellent service, the shop is staffed with only ASE-certified technicians. Employees are privy to such benefits as full medical coverage, flex time, and reimbursement for training and trade show related expenses. Reward and incentive performance programs, birthday and work anniversary acknowledgement, and company-sponsored outings are also some of the crew related team building perks. Employees have modeled the positive role set by Dunn, and have committed anywhere from five to 42 years of work to Triangle, and all, commendably, own their homes.
The admirable roles of business owner and successful professional extend beyond the garage doors of Triangle Car Care, for Dunn. From directing numerous industry groups to hosting a radio show offering advice on car repairs, Dunns’ contributions run the industry gamut.
Roles and Accomplishments:
- IGONC two year local chapter president, four year executive committee member, three year state board member, one year vice president, and two year state president.
- Mentor of start-up shops
- IGONC technical help line assistance
- Co-writer of “Best Practices” manuals
His efforts go far beyond his work with the IGONC. Bobby Dunn has traveled to Washington DC to discuss Right to Repair legislation and advised on other legislation concerning estimating laws, technical information availability, and emission inspections. He has appeared several times as a panel member on a legislative television show where he answers questions on emissions. Dunn has also collaborated with school and community groups to update their apprenticeship standards. He has worked extensively to educate on car care and safe driving via seminars. Dunn promoted decisive driving courses for new drivers and served as a member on a business education leadership council and school-to-career committee. New Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) inspectors have been students of his emissions class and clinics throughout North Carolina.
For Bobby Dunn, life does not slow down when the shop closes. He and his wife are the adoptive parents to two children and fostered four others. Bobby loves what he does, so for him, his work is also his play. Between his shop, family, community, and the industry he’s served for more than half his life Bobby Dunn is a prime example of hard work, success, and giving back.
