Top Car Models Scheduled to Be Phased Out

Some exciting new vehicles will soon hit the market. Unfortunately, there are also quite a few fan favorites that are scheduled to be discontinued. Here’s a look at the top car models that will be phased out in the near future.

Nissan Maxima
In its heyday, the Nissan Maxima was one of the most rewarding sports sedans on the road. Drivers loved its quick acceleration and poised handling. However, Maxima sales figures have declined over the past few years. This issue has forced Nissan to discontinue one of its best car models.

There are a couple of reasons why the Maxima’s popularity has declined. For starters, the Nissan Altima is considered by many people to be a better value. It offers a similar level of performance for a lower price. Some driving enthusiasts are also not too fond of the Maxima’s gearless transmission. Previous generations of the sedan were a bit more engaging to drive.

Dodge Charger
The Dodge Charger is perfect for Raleigh drivers who desire a four-door muscle car. Not only does this full-size sedan offer a thrilling level of performance, but it also enables drivers to comfortably accommodate their friends and family. While the Charger remains a well-liked car model, it will be cancelled after 2023.

It seems Dodge wants to focus more on developing electric vehicles. The Charger isn’t exactly the most fuel-efficient car on the road. This is especially true for trims equipped with a Hemi V8 engine.

Acura NSX
Many people rank the Acura NSX among today’s top sports cars. Its exotic styling immediately causes onlookers to take notice. Advanced engineering also enables the NSX to deliver a great driving experience on the street and at the track. Sadly, this high-performance car model will no longer be produced after 2022.

While there are many upsides to the NSX, it’s hard to ignore this vehicle’s weak points. A starting price in excess of $150,000 makes this supercar unattainable for the average car enthusiast. Despite featuring an advanced hybrid powertrain, the NSX also only returns an estimated 22 mpg on the highway. Many non-hybrid performance cars are more economical.

Toyota Avalon
The Toyota Avalon is a top-rated large sedan. Drivers love its bulletproof reliability and plush ride. It’s also less expensive than a similarly equipped Lexus ES. Nevertheless, this car model is not in Toyota’s future plans.

Despite its great reviews, the Avalon’s success was hindered by the top-selling Toyota Camry. These two sedans offer the same V6 powertrain and many of the same amenities. Toyota plans to replace the Avalon with the new Crown, which is designed with a sophisticated hybrid engine.

Kia Stinger
Folks in the market for a versatile sports sedan should take a serious look at the Kia Stinger. This sleek driving machine features a hatchback design, which frees up a lot of extra cargo space. While the Stinger’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine will save some fuel, power-hungry drivers will want the twin-turbo V6 engine.

There are not too many downsides to the Stinger. However, it was not a big seller in the United States. For this reason, Kia made the decision to discontinue one of its most exciting car models in history.
